Neighbors For Better Neighborhoods

Resident Organizer Program

Neighbors for Better Neighborhoods (NBN) has contracted neighborhood consultant positions within our Resident Organizer Program for any resident who live in a neighborhood and are ready to improve their community. For more than 29 years, we have supported grassroots leaders and community groups in building and improving their community's quality of life, one small project at a time. NBN assist residents with organizing themselves to accomplish their goals. Some of our partners have asked us to identify neighbors who have a vision for their community and want to become resident organizers.

A Closer Look at What Being a Resident Organizer Involves

Resident organizers generally do not provide direct services such as tutoring children or building homes. Instead, they focus their efforts on building the organizational, administrative, and financial capacity of their neighborhoods. Leaders may develop programs to meet a need, write grants, or recruit and train volunteers.

In each case, you’ll be strengthening your neighborhood so it can continue organizing to serve the needs of your community once your term has ended.

Resident organizers are required to:

  • Participate in Our Neighbors in Action Leadership Development Series
  • Lead and Participate in Neighborhood
  • Conversations and Door Knocking Campaigns
  • Map the Assets of Their Neighborhoods
  • Track Their Progress Using Teamwork Software and Other Technology
  • Facilitate Regular Meetings With Residents
  • Attend Weekly Staff Meetings to Achieve Goals for the Community
